people in the media

I'd like to talk for once of how people present themselves in the media rather than how journalist depicts them. I think that people sometimes make a fool out of themselves to gain publicity. In the field of journalism, we are told that the media depicts only part of reality because of it's limited time and space. However, the problem with time and space is also a problem that people who presents themselves in the media faces. There is so much that journalists can depict, but there are also only so much that people in the news can depict. For example, NTTV takes footage of a bunch of people on campus showing their half naked bodies for a movement call "Love your body." It's a movement that encourages people to love their bodies instead of judging beauty by media standards. The "Love your Body people," however fail to tell people that eventhough we shouldn't judge our bodies from the media's point of view, we should judge it from a health perspective. It's allright not too be embarasssed if you're overweight for example, but it is something that we should be concern of because of health reasons. This is a major flaw for these people, because the point of their cause is to promote health. In my opinion, this is becasue it is easier for people to say "Love your body." instead of "Love your body, but....."This is the same with the Jena 6 case. It's more spectacular to say "Free Jena 6" than to say "put Jena 6 in Juvenile penetentiary."
